Other weight loss websites failed to provide Michael Hassell with the tools and education for life-long healthy living and sustainable weight loss. As a father, he knew he needed to lose weight, forever. Just six months with Hairy Bikers’ Diet Club and he lost 4st 4lbs, has tried foods he had never eaten, is buzzing with confidence and knows how to live healthily for continued weight loss until he reaches his goal weight. Read his weight loss story so far… 

Michael’s weight has been a life-long battle for him. “I have always been large, but the past five years have been the worst, reaching 25st 6lbs at my heaviest.” It got to the point that Michael could not climb the stairs at home without being very out of breath.

As a father to his three-year-old daughter Eva, Michael realised he had to change his lifestyle if he wanted to see Eva grow up. “I was lying to myself. I would pretend to be happy with how I looked, but in reality I was deeply unhappy. When getting ready for a night out, I would be so depressed inside.”

Other weight loss platforms did give Michael results, but he soon found them to be quick fixes, not permanent lifestyle change, so they were unsustainable. “I was allowed ‘free foods’ so I would use this opportunity to gorge on bowlfuls of pasta and sin-free chips. This meant I never shrank my appetite and I still craved bad foods. There were recipe ideas, but not that guided a new healthy cook.”

With this in mind, when Michael saw the sample recipes and meal planning at Hairy Bikers’ Diet Club, he decided to give it a shot.

“The most helpful tool was the meal plans. The meals were incredible, full of flavour and weren’t too complex. It introduced me to foods I’d never tried, and I enjoyed the exercises to do alongside the eating. The online diary was also a big help, especially being able to update it on the go.”

As the weight fell off, the compliments came rolling in from friends and family, which made Michael feel incredible, and he found the inner happiness and self-confidence he had been lacking. “I love the new me and feel like my life has finally started. I now enjoy exercise at the gym and playing with my little girl in the park without struggling for breath. I’m not scared of missing out on my daughter’s youth and I have more confidence at work, which has benefited my career too. Plus I can buy nice clothes!”

And while other weight loss solutions didn’t provide the tools and education required for long-term healthy living, Michael now says, “I feel I have made the lifestyle changes required to shed more pounds and maintain it going forward. I cannot imagine living any other way in the future.  I can’t thank the Club enough. It has changed my life.”

Offering advice to others, Michael admits that while he has enjoyed the foods, the online weight loss tools and the changes, it has been a commitment with moments of challenging times. “Nights out and a desire for takeaway: it is tough to resist occasionally and you will slip up, but keep strong and take comfort in the old adage ‘nothing tastes as good as being slim feels’.”
