When Heidi was at her heaviest, she admits that she was putting on a brave face, but behind that exterior was a lady battling self-confidence issues. She reveals, “I kidded myself that the weight didn’t bother me, but it did.”

But thankfully, Heidi experienced a moment of truth when she was shopping with my daughter and she couldn’t find anything nice to wear.

And what’s one thing she can do now that she would have never thought possible? “I can walk into town now without becoming breathless.” Hedi now maintains her new healthy shape and lifestyle with regular dog walks, strolling into town and she has also discovered gardening again.

Heidi’s top tips

  • Put a picture of yourself at your tubbiest on the fridge and add a new one every time your weight drops by a reasonable amount.
  • Watch out for the dangers of self-deception. Avoid phrases like, “Oh, I’ve earned it” or “oh well, just this once. I’ve been good!”
  • Buy smaller plates. Portions still look satisfying, but you’ll feel like you need less,
