Bert-Olle Isaksson, an oncology nurse from Sweden, lost 4st 9lbs with the Hairy Bikers Diet Club taking him from 18st to 13st*! As a result of his fantastic weight loss, he has reduced his insulin intake for his diabetes, enjoys walks and has even inspired his partner to lose 3st too. Read his weight loss story…

Bert realised he needed to lose weight as he battled with serious health issues. “My diabetes got harder to control. I had a heart attack, which resulted in surgery to fix me up. I also got tired of not being able to walk 100 metres without huffing and puffing!”

He had tried other diet plans but found them too restrictive for his tastes. “I tried Weight Watchers a long time ago and lost weight, but failed to keep the balance, mostly because of the complicated program and not that much support.”

Now on the the Hairy Bikers Diet Club plan he is losing weight and still loving his food. “I eat mainly from the Club’s recipes or get inspiration from their food. I eat regularly, consuming around 1800 calories per day, including three main meals and two snack meals. My favourites include prawn, mango and avocado wraps, Tofu and vegetable stir fry, Indian chicken with vegetables, Chilli con carne (to which I add 25 grams of dark chocolate) and rare tuna and chick pea nicoise salad. When I go off plan the website is very helpful recalculating what I have substituted via the online diary.”

Following the Hairy Bikers Diet Club allowed Bert to act as an inspiration for others too. “I also involved my partner and he has now lost almost 3st. Friends and family knew about the program too and really supported us. The website is inspiring too with the food, recipes and support. I also like the possibility to do my own changes and registering food/courses of my own liking.”

The benefits of losing weight have been huge too in terms of Bert’s overall health. “I crouch and am able to get up by myself and can enjoy long walks like never before. I have also reduced my long-term insulin from 100-120 units a day to 30 units and the short-term insulin dose I also have lessened a lot!”
