WHAT HAPPENS ONCE I’VE SIGNED UP?
After you’ve completed the registration process, we’ll ask you a few questions about yourself, including your goal, height and current weight. This info helps us assign your program, menu plan and exercise plan.
Once you’ve set up your program, Si and Dave will introduce you to all of the key tools you’ll use to achieve your healthy goals, including your diary, menu plan and exercise program. If you have any questions or are not sure what to do, you can post a message on the forums or contact our customer service team.
WHAT IS THE NUTRITION/DIET PHILOSOPHY?
The Hairy Bikers’ Diet Club promotes the principle of energy balance. No foods are forbidden but we do encourage you to eat nutritious foods in sensible-size portions. We also encourage you to stick to a daily calorie target.
Our menu plans are full of delicious, simple ideas and recipes to help you improve the quality of your diet. In keeping with our philosophy that the program is a way of life, our menus include treats, such as wine, chocolate and takeaways, to help you learn how to include these foods in your diet.
Currently there are three menu plans to choose from:
- Weight Loss – delicious, calorie-controlled meals for those trying to slim down
- Vegetarian – nutritionally-balanced, meat-free meals
- Fast Track – following a slightly stricter regime of just 1200 calories per day for quicker results

IS THE HAIRY BIKERS DIET CLUB SUITABLE FOR DIABETICS?
Before starting any diet, it’s important to talk to your GP about its suitability. Everybody’s individual biology is different and we would never want you to put your health at risk.
The Hairy Bikers Diet focuses on eating plenty of lean meat, whole grains, fish, fruit and vegetables while minimising fat, salt and sugar. There’s customised programs you can follow and tailor to your preferences and plenty of variety when it comes to food and drink. While we can’t advise on the suitability of the diet based on your individual health needs, we do have diabetic members who feed back that they’re getting fitter and healthier thanks to the program.
I AM VEGETARIAN/VEGAN, CAN I BENEFIT FROM THE HAIRY BIKERS DIET CLUB?
We recognise that meat isn’t for everyone. Once you’ve signed up, we have an entire vegetarian section in our recipe index that you can browse. If you’re vegan, you’ll be able to make suitable substitutions and record these in your diary. The calorie counter will then be able to adjust your calculations accordingly.
I’M GLUTEN FREE, CAN I SIGN UP FOR THE HAIRY BIKERS DIET CLUB?
Absolutely. While the recipes are not specifically designed to be gluten free, they are easily adjusted and can be altered slightly to meet your dietary requirements. We offer a range of tools once you’ve joined that will allow you to swap out certain ingredients and add in new ones. This is how you can keep on top of your calorie count.
CAN I JOIN THE HAIRY BIKERS DIET CLUB IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREASTFEEDING?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding it’s best to speak to your midwife or GP about whether starting a new diet is going to be beneficial. Some of our programs are more suitable than others depending on your circumstances (for example, our maintenance program is nice and gentle and helps you to stop putting on additional unwanted weight where as our Fast Track program isn’t suitable for pregnant women). Remember though, it’s normal and natural to be a bit heavier during pregnancy and shortly after, so it’s important you get professional advice before changing your diet.
WHAT TRAINING PROGRAMS ARE AVAILABLE?
The Hairy Bikers’ Diet Club offers a walking and gym program, each lasting 12 weeks and targeting all levels of fitness. We also have a number of speciality programs that will give beginner and intermediate members a chance to improve their fitness for popular sports, such as running.
All training programs include step-by-step instructions, workout videos or photos.
I HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES, WILL I SUCCEED IN THE HAIRY BIKERS DIET CLUB?
Before starting any diet, you should speak to your GP about your suitability. After all, we wouldn’t want you to cause yourself an injury! The Hairy Bikers Diet Club features a number of diverse exercise programs you can follow and we like to think there’s something for everyone. Some of these may be more manageable than others depending on how mobile you are. If you’re unable to do any exercise, you can still partake in the diet. The recipes are calorie controlled and easy to make, so just following the menu plan will have an effect in itself.

As a Diet Clubber, you also get access to an online nutrition diary, progress charts and graphs and feedback reports.
You’ll also receive email newsletters and reminders, motivating articles and expert info, plus you’ll have access to the community forum and support tools.
